I understood what she meant because in Mother Meera's presence,
I feel like a garden receiving her wise and tender care.

For four evenings each week, I joined 200 people of all religions, all races and all nationalities awaiting Mother Meera's attentive care in the warmly lit darshan room of her home. All rise as she walks in-an incredibly young beautiful woman, majestic in this night's sari of brilliant orange. She sits in a simple white chair, and the blessing of darshan proceeds in silence.

Adilakshmi kneels in front of Mother, who holds her head lightly with her fingers. When Mother lets go, Adilakshmi sits back while Mother looks searchingly into her eyes for seconds more. When Mother lowers her eyes, Adilakshmi rises, bows and returns to her seat. Next comes Herbert. After that, people come in no special order to take their turn before Mother.

Mother Meera says that when she holds the head she is untying knots and obstacles in a person's development. When she looks into the eyes, she says, "I am looking into every corner of your being. I am looking at everything within you to see where I can give help, where I can give healing and power. At the same time, I am giving Light to every part of your being, I am opening every part of you to Light. When you are open, you will feel and see this clearly."

I see clearly that Mother Meera is an extraordinary gardener. Each person is treated like a special garden deserving of the most tender care. Each one, whether well-tended or choked with neglect, is gently weeded and given just the right amount of nourishment in Mother's light.

Calling down this Paramatman Light is Mother Meera's purpose here, Adilakshmi tells me. Mother, in answer to my question, said that now "the Light is continuously coming down." Some see it already, especially at darshan. Eventually, everyone will see it and be transformed.

Mother Meera adds, "Be sure to write that each one can have his own faith. I am here to help each one strengthen his own faith-whatever it may be."

In the darshan room, it takes two, sometimes three hours, for each one to receive their moments in front of Mother. She sits untiring, still, intently focused, taking each head tenderly, looking into eyes after eyes-the last pair receiving the same attention as the first. Then with the same dignity as her arrival, she rises and departs leaving a momentarily stunned crowd in her wake. When I could think again, I wondered at the new delights in my freshly nourished garden. I wondered if my home garden would flourish as I feel myself flourish. ~
